Her scope of thought is very wide and the topics are diverse. Social and social inequalities, politics, eastern values, western culture, personal problems of men and women etc. are her main topics. She did not only describe the local problems and events in her fiction, but because of her familiarity with the American culture, she also made the American lifestyle and society her subject.
