Abstract

In ancient period knowledge had its limitation. It was confined in most cases within limited boundries. With the invent of printing press thoughts have travelled rapidly the world over. Printed books, news papers, perodicals and journals containing matter belong to sciences, social sciences and arts have played a vital role as far as spread of knowledge is concerned. By analysing the nature of knowledge accumulated about the Eastern world by the western scolars Edward Said has reached to the conclusion that orientalists have created a psudo gap between the conciousness of East and the West. He was of the opinion that the western media could not present true and original pictures of the Eastern World. So Western scholars have used their press largely for misguiding the people of East and West.
