Abstract

In the writings of Sa'adi, 'Gulistan' is the most popular book. In the subcontinent this book is so famous that within very short period after its compilation, it became popular in this region and from the time of its compilation to the present times, it was not only being read by the common people, but it was also included in the syllabi at different levels of learning. For this reason, along with other local languages, 'Gulistan' was translated into Urdu language and some commentaries of this book have also been written in this language. In this article two commentaries of 'Gulistan' namely "Riaz-e-Rizwan" and "Guldasta-e-Janan" have been introduced and critically analyzed.
