Abstract

Abu al-Fadl 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr ibn Muhammad Jalal al-Din
al-Suyuti (849-911 AH) was an Egyptian Muslim Scholar who rendered his best
services in diversified fields of Islamic Sciences and produced commendable literature.
He adhered to the Shafi'i Maslak. Al-Itqan fi Ulum Al-Qur'an is one of his marvelous
and significant works that had been paid tribute by religious intelligentsia from his age
to date. This renowned polymath offers all linguistic and methodological tools to
comprehend The Qur'an. Al-Suyuti made valuable additions to the preceding
monograph in the discipline of Quranic Sciences namely al-Burhan by Zarkashi and
originated about thirty three branches of Quranic sciences. The contents of the book
have been presented in a logical flow and refined form. This is not exaggeration to
declare that Al-Itqan is an encyclopedia that is a remarkable achievement of Suyuti and
it still serves those who engaged in serious exegetical and literary analysis concerning
to The Text of The Qur'an.
