Abstract
Mirza Muhammad Hassan Qateel was a fervent follower of Hafiz's shirazi's style of
Ghazals and eminent sub-continent writer of Persian literature. He expertise both in
Persian as well as in Urdu language; yet his Urdu literature work is not readily
available. However, his urdu literature work can be referred in certain collection of
biographical notes. Mirza Qateel penned down first book in Urdu Meter and Prosody
in collaboration with Syed Insha Ullah Khan under the title Darya-e-Lataful. This
book is the first grammer book of Urdu and Qateels's work in this book played a pivot
role in oxygenation of Urdu language and this book is a valuable addition to the
history and evolution of Poetic Meter. This article covers the analytical review of
Mirza Qateel's works on urdu poetry and give the readers an insight over the qateels'
work on urdu literature.
