Abstract
This essay presents the evidence that religious elements dominated the early Urdu Literature
and proceeds to discuss its impact on the literary traditions.The essay further highlights how religious feelings formed the basis of the development of Urdu
Literature, and social issues were also intertwined within these writings.Evidence is offered to show that these social issues were ignored when the mainstreaming of
history started and discusses its impact.
