Abstract
Abdul Haleem Sharar (1860-1926), novelist and writer, is a towering icon of urdu literature. He
started a literary journal "Dilgudoz" in 1887, which continued till 1933. Sharar gathered his selected
essays from "Dilgudoz" that appeared in the journal prion to 1920 and got them published in eight
volumes. Later, Syed Mubarik Ali and Sons, Lahore Published this work in seven volumes. However,
Muhammad Hassan Askari claimed in his book that Syed Mubarik Ali and sons had published eight
volumes. He listed the name of the 8th volume as "Muqalat-e-Sharar" to support his claim. All later critics
have followed this assertion. But, according to the writer's research, most of the essays contained in this
8th volume are already present in the Syed Mubarik Ali and sons orginal seven volumes.
