Abstract

Mian Muhammad Bakhsh is a prominent Sufi poet. His book "Safar ul Ishq" popularly knawn as "Saif ul Maluk" is in the form of Masnavi a poetic form of Punjabi classic poetry. Apparently this is the story of love between Shahzada Saif ul Maluk and Shahzadi Badaee ul Jamal full of enthusiasm, sacrifice, struggle and expeditions to achieve goals but with the reference of Mysticism. These are the efforts of a Salik to explore the Manazel-e-Salook (different stages in Mysticism). Mr. Zameer Jaffery a well known literary figure had beautifully translated some selective Punjabi verses of Saif ul Malook into Urdu verses. This article presents a research based critical view of Mr. Zameer Jaffery's book "Man Maila". He tried to familiarize Urdu readers with Punjabi wisdom and thoughts.
