Abstract
The tradition of Dastan is very old. During the 20th century Dastan writing reached its climax and a great many prose and poetic forms of Dastan emerged. But near the end of the 20th century this tradition gradually declined. To research the traces of this tradition during the initial decades of the 21st century is a difficult task. In Pakistan, this tradition took a rebirth during the second half of the 20th century. Now the tradition and disposition of "Dastan" had changed. In these (tales) Dastan modern scientific techniques and equipment had taken the place of supernatural characters. But inspite of this, like old Dastan these also seemed to be reflecting the culture of the land. These Dastan beautifully reflect Pakistani ways of living, social behaviors and tendencies. This research is a political and social case study of Dastan written in Pakistan.
