Abstract
Ghazal is a cultural genre of Urdu Poetry which has no boundaries in its themes. Poets have expressed their romantic feelings as well as social ideas through this genre. Many characters are made in history of ghazal that are symbolic Ashiq, Mehboob, Raqib, Nasih, Saqi, Rind, Gul, Bulbl and Parwana are most popular characters. Some other characters who has not been discussed properly in criticism are in form of nouns. The explanations of many ghazal's verses reflects their limited meanings because most of the interpreters insists that these nouns are used only for Ashiq or Mashooq. They have multiple meanings and demand appropriate interpretation which explore their social and political depth.
