Abstract
Allama Mohammad Iqbal's personal diary of his poetry is a rare and authentic
literary source. It includes his poem "Aik Sham" written in his hand writing which
sheds light on the time span during which it was composed. It also brings forth textual
anomalies. This paper explores the various dimensions of the arguments surroundings
the poem at above. It also highlighted the significance of this poem in German
translations among the German orientalist and links with Goethe and Glasenapp.
