Abstract
In Lahore, during colonial era Islamic and Christian religious activities were
at their peak. The basic reason of which was that with the arrival of Britishers there
started a tug of war between western and eastern cultural values, new and old
education system and among different schools of thought along with Islam and
Christianity. As a result, Urdu prose expanded in religious writings and its capability
increased to meet the requirements to the best of its abilities and a worth mentioning
storage of religious writings came into being. During colonial era, Lahore was the
centre of attention in terms of religious activities. From religious point of view, an
ambience of dialogue was prevalent at that time therefore most of the writings were
based on discussions and dialogues. Such a religious literature is being highlighted at
length in this essay with great curiosity and research.
