The article intorduces "The Real Meaning of Jihad in the Light of Allama
Iqbal's Thought". Jihad has great importance in the teaching of Islam and some jurists
count it in the fundamental pillars of Islam. The critics and orientalists have
misconceptions about Jihad and confuse it with terrorism. Actually the Jihad is
lexicographically "Holy Struggle" for the welfare of humanity and enforcement of
divine Islamic Laws. Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was true Muslim Scholar and
magnanimous knowledge regarding Islamic Faith. In his poetry and prose, he
emphasized the Muslims that they should serve their lives in accordance with the
teachings of Islam and perform Jihad, so that they become prosper and progressive.
Dr. Iqbal's thought presented in his poetry coresponds to the teachings derived the
Qur'an and Sunnah.
