Abstract
Not only muslim poets, but non muslim poets have contributed to praising the
Prophet of Islam (P.B.U.H) and his family (The Ahle-e-Bait).Both Muslim and Non
muslim poets have acknowledged the greatness of these pure and great souls.Allama
Muhammad Iqbal is a famous philospher poet of the sub-Continent who has a close
affiliation with the family of the Prophet.In his first book, "Asrar-e-khudi" he has
written a manqabat a poem praising Hazrat Ali (A.S), "Dar Shararh Asrar-e-
Asmaye-Ali Murtaza" which is a poem written to praise the Prophet,s family.
Rattan Sing Zakhmi is a famous poet of the 13th century.He was raised in an
educated Hindu family.However he embrassed Islam three years before his death.In his
collected works, there is a "Haft Band" (seven stanza poem) which is written in
admiration of Hazrat Ali (A.S).This research article offers an analytical and
comparative reading of these two poets.
