Abstract

In Subcontinent a number of  Hindu and Sikh authors wrote sirah of the Holy
Prophet (PBUH). Among these Sardar Gordat Sing Dara has compiled a biography of
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) entitled "Muhammad ki Sarkaar". The same book was
reprinted bearing another title "Rasool-e-Arabi". This book has unique attributes and
wonderful features. One of these is its literary style. The writer has quoted lot of Urdu,
Persian and Arabic couplets while throwing light on the incidents of Sirah. He has also
quoted lot of Urdu and Hindi idioms, phrases and proverbs to elucidate relevant
situations. This idiomatic and poetic aspect of the Dara's sirah writng creates an
effective and everlasting impression and satisfies the literary taste of a reader. In this
article an attempt has been made to analyze literary style of sirah writing adopted by
G.S.Dara.
