The truth about the existence of Creator, Universe and Man has always been an intrigving
question for religion, philosophy, science and poetry. The Poet is free in such debate compare to prose. In
classical Urdu poetry such debate have been expressed symbolically. But the Political, social and
economic situation of the 20th century has created a worldwide consciousness which finds its reflection
in Urdu Poetry as well. Especially in the backgrop of the progressive movement these debates became
directly the subject of poetry. This study explores the works of those poets in modern Urdu poetry, in
whose works this subject is regarded as a trend.
