Abstract

Abdul Haleem Sharar was a versatile writer. Through "dilgudaz" he earned fame in essay and
novel writing. Besides this he reviewed his contemporary literary books. His reviews include the
important books of his time and general books. Sharar wrote reviews on all generes of literature, biographies,
auto biographier, translations, scientific publications, poetry and criticism. So to say all fields
were covered in his reviews. This essay covers sharar's review writing and concludes that Sharar not only
promoted urdu literature but also opened up new horizons/directions through his review writing.
