Abstract

Khawaja Hayder Ali Atish (1778D1848) is being considered as the representative poet of Luchnavi school of poetry.Hewas one of themost popularand significant poets of the first half of the nineteenth century.His life and works have been narrated in almost all contemporary tadhkiras; however, the annotated text given inthisarticleisdifferent from that of all others in many aspects. It is a part of an unpublished tadhkira by the renowned poet and tadhkira writer Abdul Ghafoor Nassakh(1834D1889). The only manuscript of the tadhkira is available in the Bodlien Library, University of Oxford. It was first discovered by thepresent researcher in 2013 and is being edited and annotated by the same. The manuscript comprises94folios(188pages)and gives the names of 91poets and accounts  of 87 poets. It was written somewhere between 1872 D1887.The present  article gives theedited andannotated text of thechapter twoof the tadhkira whichgivesthedetailedaccountsof Atish and his nine apprentices including Asghar, Afzal, Bismil, Khalil, Rind, Suroor, Sharar, Sharaf and Muntaha.
