Abstract

Waris Alvi is a prominent critic of fiction in Urdu. Beside it, he has parted a major role to build the theory based upon pure literary standards against the inflexible critical system of Tarraqi Pasand critics. Waris Alvi has played a significant role in Urdu criticism but he has not appreciated as much. It is necessary to study his thoughts as a whole and present it for the guidance of Urdu critics as well Urdu fiction writers. In this article, a discussion has been opened after analyzing briefly the style of this prominent Urdu critic and it willopen a window for the Urdu criticism and studies of fiction.
