Abstract

Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali (1837-1914) was a great Urdu poet and reformer. He wrote many books like Hayat e Javid, Yadgar e Ghalib Hayat e Saadi and Muqaddima e Sher o Shairi etc. His lengthy poem Musaddas e Maddo Jazr e Islam has earned great fame and popularity during its time and afterwards. In this article imprints of Greek civilization on Hali's mind and art are discovered. This article shows Halli's great interest in Greek's contribution to the field of knowledge and civilization. Different aspects of the topic have also been discussed for the first time at length.
