Abstract

The article under view is a modest endeavour to pin point the features of colonial conflict  among local writers of poetry.Being subject to a worst kind of mental and psychological oppression, the writings of native poets were directly influenced by colonial discourses during the post independence war of 1857 period.The article identifies the punch news papers especially those satirical and humorous strains promoted by Awadh Punch which created an atmosphere of resistance against colonizers.A special place is awarded to the poetics of Akbar Allahbadi ,the most influential voice of satirical and humorous poetry of Urdu in a Colonial context.
