Abstract

The article intorduces "The Real Meaning of Jihad in the Light of AllamaIqbal's Thought". Jihad has great importance in the teaching of Islam and some juristscount it in the fundamental pillars of Islam. The critics and orientalists havemisconceptions about Jihad and confuse it with terrorism. Actually the Jihad islexicographically "Holy Struggle" for the welfare of humanity and enforcement of divine Islamic Laws. Allama Dr. Muhammad Iqbal was true Muslim Scholar andmagnanimous knowledge regarding Islamic Faith. In his poetry and prose, heemphasized the Muslims that they should serve their lives in accordance with theteachings of Islam and perform Jihad, so that they become prosper and progressive.Dr. Iqbal's thought presented in his poetry coresponds to the teachings derived theQur'an and Sunnah.
