Abstract

Mir Syed Ali Hamadani was a renowned religious scholar, a Sufi, great reformer and an eminent Persian poet and writer of the 14th century. He made a vital contribution to the propagation of Islamic and Iranian culture and civilization in the Indo-Pakistan sub-continent. Spread of Islam in Kashmir is solely due to his efforts. He contributes a lot to promote Persian language and literature in this area. His poetry enjoys a lofty position from the subjective and artistic point of view. Its basic subject is mysticism. Religious and moral topics have also been dealt with in a beautiful way. In the article under review an objective evaluation of his Persian poetry has been made.
