Abstract

Jalal ud din Akbar was illetrate but the company of learned men had made him a scholar. He had a fine tase for fine arts & literature. Poets & writers were greatly encouraged by him. The ministers  which he had appointed for the administration of the country were called ''Nau Ratan'' (Nine Jewels).These Nau Ratans were not only scholars themselves but they greatly patronised the poets & the writers. The learned people were greatly motivated & attracted towards Akbar & his regieme after hearing the stories of their magnanimity.In this article Nau Ratans & these learned people's love for knowledge & literature is discussed.
